Build Your Own AI Thinking Partner
Course content. Intellectual attention is scarce in an early research career: there are simply few moments where you feel that your work gets the focus that you would like. In this course, you build your own personalised AI assistant to provide you with such attention, on demand, at any time of the day. Depending on your needs and preferences, you design it to think along with you, interrogate your reasoning and criticise your work, more or less harshly, from perspectives you choose: a supervisor, the named members of a dissertation panel, a precise journal's editorial board or a school of thought.
Goals. You learn to:
- set up, maintain and improve different bespoke AI thinking partners;
- use large amounts of written documents (books, papers, etc.) as context for your thinking partners;
- brainstorm, ideate and contextualise;
- refine your arguments through Socratic questioning, perspective shifting and calibrated criticism;
- anticipate some of the feedback you may receive, so that the first human critique can be more focused;
- better integrate the human feedback you receive into your work;
- prepare for a dissertation defence, an interview or a conference Q&A by rehearsing the questions and objections you may face;
- judge which feedback to take in and which to leave aside.
Format. Every course can take different shapes: in person, online or both, as one intensive block or spread over several weeks, shorter or longer. Length, format and all practical details are open: we agree them together, and I adapt the course to what your institution needs.
